As a breeder who takes care of nine wonderful dogs on a daily basis, I have noticed that taking care of a pet today is much more than just “providing food and a walk”. You need to look holistically — nutrition, activity, relationships with home, accessories and the environment. Below are the most important trends that I think are worth taking into account in 2025. I think that many of the following tips are universal and will be useful for cat owners.

  1. Health and well-being as a priority

More and more often, we pay attention not only to whether the dog is healthy, but whether it has a good, lively daily experience.
What to look for:

  • A tailor-made diet: the dog’s age, breed, activity level, health status – all of these things matter when choosing food.
  • Digestive and immune support: Increasingly, owners are turning to functional foods or supplements (e.g. ingredients that support joints, skin, or the dog’s immunity).
  • Care and hygiene: natural ingredients in cosmetics, regular care of the skin, ears and teeth – these are no longer just accessories, but an important part of care.

My advice: Choose foods and care products that clearly communicate the composition and origin of the raw materials. If your dog has any health problem — don’t hesitate to visit a veterinarian or animal nutritionist.

  1. Sustainability and ecology – for us and for your pet

Running a kennel for many dogs has made me realize how much waste toys, bowls and other accessories generate. Owners are increasingly looking for environmentally friendly products and responsible brands.

What to look for in practice:

  • Toys made from natural or recycled materials.
  • Cosmetics for dogs without unnecessary chemicals, with a high content of natural ingredients.
  • Investing in durable bowls, beds and leashes – it’s better to replace cheap products once well than many times.
  • Use compostable dog poop bags to minimize environmental impact.

My advice: Take a moment to check the composition and origin of accessories and cosmetics. You can combine the good of the dog and the planet.

  1. Comfort of life and living together with your pet

The pet lives with us in a common household, accessories must fit into our common rhythm of life, they should be comfortable and aesthetic.

Some examples:

  • Beds and pillows: easy to clean from hair and dirt, moisture-proof, suitable for the age and needs of the dog.
  • Leashes, collars, harnesses: comfortable and safe for the dog, and at the same time visually tailored to your style.
  • Accessories for a walk: a portable bowl, an accessory bag, wipes – when you go out with your dog for the weekend or on a trip.
  • Playing together, being active and relating: the dog should not only be “with me”, but we must learn to spend time together, and preferably actively – it will be healthy for you and the dog.

My advice: Imagine a typical day for your dog — how he eats, plays, goes out, rests. Choose accessories that support these moments, not get in the way.

  1. Utility Accessories and Extras – What Really Comes in Handy

In my experience, there are products that really make a difference, and those that sit around and collect dust after a while. Let’s focus on the former.

It is worth noting:

  • Bowls and containers: stable, easy to wash, odor-free – so your dog can eat or drink water in peace.
  • Toys and activities: different types of play (physical and mental), durable materials, the possibility of washing or easy cleaning.
  • Accessories for a walk: good leash/harness, flashlight/LED for the dog for the evening, durable bags, portable bowl.
  • A bed and a suitable space for the dog – a place where the dog can be “at home”, without the constant movement of household members or noise.

My advice: Think ahead – how your dog spends the day – and choose accessories that support their lifestyle, not just look good in the photo.

  1. What the future holds (and what you should be ready for)

The world of dog products is changing faster and faster. Here are a few directions that I already notice and that are worth monitoring:

  • Smart accessories: devices that monitor activity, sleep, dog or cat moods – this may soon be standard.
  • Ecology and brand ethics: transparency in the origin of ingredients, environmental impact, healthy composition, durability of products.
  • Holistic care: not only the physical health but also the mental health of the dog. Sensory stimuli, time with the caregiver, peace at home, emotional awareness of the animal.

My advice: Keep an eye out for what’s new, but use common sense – not everything that’s trendy will be right for your dog (e.g. if he’s overweight, has sensitive skin or fears).

Summary

Managing a house with nine dogs, I’ve learned that the best choice for a pet is one that combines quality, function, and health—not just a fashionable look or a momentary impulse. In 2025, it is worth focusing on:

  • Comprehensive health and well-being of the dog (diet, exercise, grooming).
  • Environmentally friendly products adapted to everyday life.
  • Accessories that really support both the dog and you as a caregiver.
  • Openness to new solutions, but with caution.

If you’re wondering what products will be right for your dog (age, breed, activity) — I’ll be happy to help! I have not only theoretical knowledge, but also many years of practice.
