The aging of any organism is a natural physiological process that begins when it reaches adulthood. Initially, the aging processes are imperceptible, but as time goes by, they become more and more visible. A dog that has reached 75% of its life expectancy is considered a senior dog. It is estimated that we have up to 45% of senior dogs in the entire population.   Aging and the breed of dog When determining the age at which we consider a dog to be old, we take into account its body weight. In the case of small breeds weighing less than 10 kg, the aging process begins at the age of 8 and even after 9 years of age (1), in the case of medium breed dogs similarly, but here, with heavier dogs, the symptoms of old age may appear even a year earlier compared to small breeds.
